We know that planning a photoshoot can feel a little bit like juggling flaming torches while riding a unicycle — exciting, but also full of “Wait, what about this?” and “Do I need to bring snacks?” (spoiler: snacks are always a good idea). Whether it’s your first professional photoshoot or your hundredth, it’s totally normal to have questions. Do I get my photos straight away? What if it rains? Should I hide my awkward laugh or embrace it? (Always embrace it — it makes for the best photos). To make things easier, we’ve put together a collection of the most common questions we hear at Dust & Sage Photography. Think of this page as your photography cheat sheet — equal parts helpful and reassuring.

How do I book a session?
Booking is simple! Once you’ve chosen your preferred date, we’ll send you a booking form and contract. A non-refundable deposit secures your spot, and the remaining balance is due before image delivery. Where are you based, and do you travel? Dust & Sage Photography is proudly based in Brisbane, but we regularly travel for shoots. We’ve photographed in rural NSW including Glen Innes, Tamworth, Inverell, and Armidale. Travel fees may apply for locations outside of Brisbane, which will be discussed upfront. What is your turnaround time for images? On average, edited images are delivered within 2–4 weeks of your session. For larger events such as weddings or multi-day shoots, delivery may take slightly longer, but we’ll keep you updated along the way. How are images delivered? You’ll receive your images via a secure online gallery using Google Drive or a USB drive for easy viewing, downloading, and sharing. From there, you can order professional prints, albums, or other products if you’d like. Will all my images be edited? Yes! Every delivered photo is carefully edited for colour, exposure, and overall polish. We don’t provide unedited/raw files, as editing is a big part of our creative process. Do you offer prints or albums? Absolutely. While all sessions include high-resolution digital files, you also have the option to order prints, framed artwork, and albums through us. These are professionally produced to ensure quality. What happens if it rains or the weather is bad? For outdoor sessions, we’ll keep an eye on the forecast. If conditions are unsafe or unsuitable, we’ll reschedule at no extra cost. Sometimes a bit of weather can even add magic to your photos, but your safety always comes first. Do you work with other photographers? Yes, for larger events like weddings, Dust & Sage Photography may bring along a second shooter or assistant to make sure no moment is missed. All images captured by additional photographers are edited and delivered under the Dust & Sage standard, so your gallery feels seamless. Can I share my photos on social media? Of course! You’ll have personal usage rights to share your images online with family and friends. We just ask that you credit Dust & Sage Photography when posting. Commercial use (e.g., advertising, product sales, publications) requires a separate licensing agreement. Do you keep backups of my photos? We store backups of your images for up to 6 months after delivery. After that, we cannot guarantee copies will remain in our archive, so we recommend downloading and securely storing your photos right away. What should I wear or bring to my session? This depends on the type of shoot! Neutral tones, comfortable outfits, and layers often photograph beautifully. We’ll chat before your session to give you tailored advice, and you’re welcome to bring props or personal items to make the photos more “you.” What if I need to cancel or reschedule? Life happens! If you need to reschedule, let us know as soon as possible. Deposits are non-refundable, but we’ll do our best to work with you to find another date. Can you help with location ideas? Definitely. Whether you want the Brisbane city vibe, lush greenery, or dramatic rural landscapes, we’ll suggest spots that fit your vision. We love scouting unique places that suit your style.
